This weekend I took part in a 48 Hour Film Competition held by FUSION Halifax, after being asked by my coworker Nicole to be in charge of lighting.

The idea of the competition was to assemble a team of no more than 10 people, then write, film and edit a short film (between 10 sec - 10 mins in length) in 48 hours. Each team is also given a different list of things to incorporate into their film, just to make things a bit harder and to make sure we hadn’t pre-planned anything.
On Friday evening, our team met for the first time at The Hub and we quickly started brainstorming. Within an hour we had an idea and were ready to set up to start shooting!
Our list of things to incorporate:
- Dialogue Line: The Time Has Come
- Non Specific Location: Bus Stop
- Article of clothing: Sunglasses
- Prop: Cigar
Here are some of the ‘behind the scenes’ shots that I took!

At some point during the night it was decided that we needed another character to add to our film…

So, Nicole did my makeup and I made my film debut as Marie-Antoinette. ahahah I’m embarrassed even thinking about it but I took one for the team.
All I can say is my team was amazing, I loved working on this and I can’t wait to see the finished product! By the way if anyone is interested - the 48 Hour Film Competition screening will be held at Park Lane, Friday, October 19th at 6pm for free. All of the teams’ films will be shown and the winners will be announced!
